Stories from the studio

Each commission leaves us with a story worth retelling. These are a few of our favourites, gathered from country houses, farm barns and castle gardens across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and the Vale of Belvoir.

Eleanor & James

Holme Pierrepont Hall · Nottinghamshire

Eleanor grew up sailing at Holme Pierrepont and wanted to be married within sight of the water. We planned a June weekend at the hall, with the ceremony in the garden, long tables under the trees and a surprise last dance on the lawn as the sun went down over the rowing lake.

The brief was “English summer, slightly undone”: garden roses in pale blush, handwritten place cards, and the couple's dog carrying the rings down the aisle in a ribboned collar.

Priya & Marcus

Belvoir Castle Gardens · Vale of Belvoir

Two ceremonies in one day asked for careful choreography. Priya and Marcus married first at a registry blessing in Bingham's parish church, then travelled to Belvoir Castle for a garden celebration that folded together both families' traditions.

We built a schedule that gave each ceremony room to breathe, dressed the terrace in cream and muted rose, and ended the night with a lantern send-off along the castle approach that guests still describe in disbelief.

Sophie & Callum

A family farm · near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire

Callum's family farm outside Melton Mowbray had never hosted a wedding, which was exactly the point. We spent a year turning a working farmyard into a venue for a day: a marquee threaded with ivy, a ceremony among the oak trees, and catering from a Leicestershire kitchen the family had loved for years.

Our on-the-day coordination meant the family farmed in the morning and celebrated by afternoon, with not a single bale of straw out of place.

Margaret's Ninetieth

The Chesterfield Room · Bingham, Nottinghamshire

Not every story we tell is a wedding. For Margaret's ninetieth birthday, her grandchildren hired the function room above Bingham market place and asked us to make it feel like the parties of her youth.

We dressed the room with photographs from nine decades, a cake table in the colours of her wedding bouquet, and a live singer she had danced to in the 1950s. She opened the dancing, and nobody sat down again.

“The studio turned our vague ideas into a day our guests are still talking about. Every detail felt like us, only better arranged.” Eleanor & James · Holme Pierrepont Hall
